Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).

Additional Required Qualifications:

This is a working level position utilizing technical skills and judgment performing a diverse range of diagnostic procedures within the Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Transfusion Medicine, and Specimen Procurement departments, within the scope of practice of a Medical Laboratory Technologist. The position includes days, evenings, weekends and on-call with a 30 minute response time. Current experience in Biochemistry, Hematology, and Transfusion Medicine required. Proven interpersonal, oral, and written communications skills are required. Excellent public relations and a service-oriented manner are essential. Must be able to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with patients/clients, families, staff, inter-disciplinary team members and personnel from other departments in a fast-paced, and changing environment. Proven analytic and problem solving skills, attention to detail, logical/methodical work habits, and demonstrated ability to work independently are required. Candidate must be well organized and flexible. Evidence of CSMLS certification may be required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Meditech LIS experience and knowledge is preferred. Medical Terminology and experience in a healthcare setting is preferred. Current phlebotomy experience preferred. Recent experience operating and troubleshooting: Vitros 350, Vitros ECI, Dxh600, ACL Elite Pro, ISTAT, Triage, Ortho Gel method.
