Your Opportunity:

Reporting to the Core Lab Supervisor, some of the main responsibilities will include: Performing both automated and manual laboratory procedures according to established policies and procedures. Performing computer and/or manual clerical duties as required and performing point of care procedures. Preparing and processing clinical research and laboratory specimens for analysis and/or transport. Operating, maintaining and performing troubleshooting on a variety of laboratory instruments. Maintaining a clean and safe work area according to established policies and procedures. Monitoring department supply inventory and following up accordingly. Actively participate in the training and orientation of staff. Performing other related duties as required.

Description:

As a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) I, you will be responsible for the daily processing, testing, results analysis and reporting of diagnostic samples within the laboratory department. You will perform a variety of routine and specialized procedures in the processing of specimens used in diagnosis, treatment and research.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).

Additional Required Qualifications:

5 or more years of recent experience in Core Laboratory with advanced Hematology knowledge. Proven interpersonal, oral and written communication skills are required. Excellent public relations and a service-orientated manner are essential. Proven analytical and problem solving skills, attention to detail, logical/methodical work habits. Candidate must be well-organized, flexible and able to work under pressure. Ability to prioritize and work independently as well as in a group is required. Computer literacy and keyboarding skills required. Willingness to accept additional duties as assigned. Demonstrates APL core values; respect, accountability, transparency, engagement.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Vitros Chemistry analyzers, Beckman Coulter LH analyzers, urinalysis, Specimen preparation (routine and Clinical Research), good understanding of QC/QA.
